About this pepper

This Capsicum annuum cultivar was developed and grown by Chris Fowler in the United Kingdom. It produces elongated sweet pepper fruits that are brown at maturity and notably larger than standard long sweet pepper types.

The line gained attention after one plant, grown in 2023, produced a fruit measuring approximately 41 centimetres in length. This fruit was significantly longer than those produced by the other plants grown from the same line. While all plants produce large, elongated pods, this extreme length appears to be the result of a single exceptional plant rather than a fully stabilised trait.

Seeds are being distributed in response to interest from growers, rather than as part of a formal breeding or stabilisation programme. As such, fruit length may vary between plants and generations, and the 41 centimetre length should be considered an observed maximum rather than a guaranteed trait.

The plants have an upright, bushy growth habit, with dark green lance-shaped leaves and small white flowers. Fruits are botanically classified as berries and are sweet in flavour, with no detectable heat.

Genetic stability is currently unknown and would require further multi-generation selection to confirm consistency of the extreme fruit length.
