About this pepper

7 Pot Caramel is a Trinidad superhot 7 Pot line with caramel-brown ripe pods, extreme heat, and a flavour profile that sellers and growers repeatedly describe as fruity, sweet, honeyed, earthy, or lightly apple-like. The plant is usually described as productive and fairly robust, generally around 70 cm to 1.0 m tall, with plump, wrinkled pods roughly 3.0 to 6.0 cm long.

Current seller descriptions also agree that it works especially well for hot sauces, powders, and other processed uses because of its strong flavour and high heat.

The part that does not line up perfectly online is its exact background. Most live sources simply treat 7 Pot Caramel as a Trinidad 7 Pot colour or type variant. However, one specialist source describes a specific line called 7 Pot Caramel STAR as a selection from 7 Pot Chaguanas Chocolate and notes that the deeper origin is not fully clear. That does not necessarily mean every seed listing under plain “7 Pot Caramel” refers to that same line, but it does show that the name has some seed-trade drift and may cover more than one closely related caramel or chocolate 7 Pot selection.

Heat reporting also varies by seller. Published figures range from about 900,000 SHU up to 1,500,000+ SHU, with some listings simply calling it “1,000,000+++”. The 1,100,000 SHU value used here is a practical midpoint estimate rather than a fixed lab-certified figure.

Culturally, 7 Pot Caramel sits more in the modern superhot grower, sauce, and collector scene than in a strongly documented traditional regional food role.
