7 Pot Douglah
The 7 Pot Douglah, also known as the Chocolate 7 Pot, is a Capsicum chinense chilli originating from Trinidad and Tobago. The pods mature from green to a deep chocolate-brown colour and display a heavily wrinkled, pimpled surface. The name 7 Pot reflects the traditional belief that a single pod is capable of heating seven pots of stew, while Douglah is a Trinidadian term referring to mixed African and Indian heritage.
This variety is regarded as one of the hottest peppers in the world, with recorded Scoville Heat Unit values ranging from approximately 923,889 up to 1,853,986. The flavour profile combines fruity sweetness with nutty and earthy undertones. The 7 Pot Douglah is considered a natural variant within the 7 Pot lineage rather than the result of deliberate hybridisation.
