7 Pot Nebru
The 7 Pot Nebru is a Capsicum chinense hybrid created in Western Australia by a grower named Brian. It is a cross between the 7 Pot Jonah and the Trinidad Yellow Scotch Bonnet and has been refined over several growing seasons. The plant grows well in containers, typically reaching around 1 metre in height, and can grow larger when planted in the ground.
The pods are large, often reaching the size of a golf ball, and ripen from green to yellow. The flavour is sweet and juicy with strong fruity character and lemony, floral notes that persist despite the intense heat. The heat builds quickly, initially affecting the roof of the mouth before spreading to the throat and tongue. This cultivar is regarded as one of the more manageable Capsicum chinense varieties to grow.
