About this pepper

Al-Bab is a mild Capsicum annuum variety originating from the city of Al-Bab in Syria. Plants typically grow to around 90 centimetres in height, though with regular pruning they can be maintained at approximately 45 centimetres.

The pods are thick-walled and wrinkled in appearance, maturing from green to red when fully ripe. When allowed to ripen completely, the flavour is predominantly sweet, with some pods occasionally showing a very mild level of heat. This variety is commonly used for grilling, stuffing, and pickling.

Al-Bab is a distinct regional variety and should not be confused with the Haskoria pepper, which is grown in a neighbouring area.
