Ancho San Martin Hybrid
Ancho San Martin Hybrid is a mild Capsicum annuum hybrid developed for large, productive ancho-type pods. It produces pendant fruits typically 4–6 inches long and 2.5–3.5 inches wide, with thick walls, maturing from dark green to deep red.
This hybrid is selected for vigorous plant growth, high yields and uniform fruit size. Plants commonly reach around 36–42 inches in height and produce abundant midseason crops, generally within 70–80 days.
As a hybrid, seed saved from Ancho San Martin will not reliably breed true, and growers usually purchase new seed each season to maintain consistent characteristics.
The pods are mild in heat and well suited to fresh use such as stuffing and roasting, and they can also be dried and used in a similar manner to other ancho-type peppers.
