About this pepper

Apocalypse Scorpion is a super-hot Capsicum chinense variety developed in Italy by the Italian Pepper Lovers Society (AIASP) over a five-year breeding period. The variety is a hybrid line that shares visual and genetic traits with peppers such as Bhut Jolokia, Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, and Carolina Reaper.

Pods begin ripening from light green and mature to a deep red colour. They are heavily textured, pimpled, and irregular in shape. Plants are vigorous and can reach up to approximately 140 centimetres in height. Under favourable conditions, individual plants are capable of producing high yields over a growing season lasting several months.

The flavour profile is fruity, typical of Capsicum chinense, paired with an extremely high heat level commonly reported at around 1,400,000 Scoville Heat Units.
