BB Habanero (CGN 24360)

BB Habanero (CGN 24360) is a wild Capsicum chinense accession-linked pepper known through the CGN genebank naming system used by the Centre for Genetic Resources in the Netherlands, and the name had already appeared publicly in pepper-growing circles by 2012. It is grown as a compact but very heavy-setting plant, commonly described around 61 cm tall and up to about 91.5 cm wide, with the ability to carry hundreds to thousands of tiny round to tepin-like pods over a season and to ripen early compared with many other hot peppers. The pods are extremely small, often described as BB-sized or about 6 mm across, and they are valued for the way they cover the plant so densely that the whole plant can look ornamental when loaded with ripe fruit.

The flavour is regularly described as strongly habanero-like despite the miniature pod size, with a bright, pungent, fruity character that suits fresh eating, sauces, drying, and powder making.
