About this pepper

Bleeding Rawit White x ODA is a modern Indonesian Capsicum annuum hybrid created by Agus Widagdo by crossing Bleeding Rawit White with Oda. It was already in documented grow lists by January 2023, showing that the line had entered hobby growing circulation by that point.

The plant is a compact to medium ornamental-edible annuum, with one F3 seller describing it at about 70 cm high. Grower photos of the F3 line show green foliage, lightly purple-tinted stems and pedicels, and short to medium pendant pods with a broad shoulder and tapered tip. The pods are especially notable for their strong unripe colour, appearing deep purple before maturing through orange-red into full red.

Its main appeal in circulation has been visual rather than brute heat. Seller descriptions and grower images focus on the unusually strong colour contrast before ripening, and the line has also been used repeatedly in further decorative breeding work, including later crosses selected for large bleeding calyxes, variegation, and other ornamental traits.

A major factual conflict exists around heat. One exact-name seed listing describes Bleeding Rawit White x ODA at 2,000 to 5,000 SHU, while a German F3 listing describes the fruit as having no real heat and only a slight piquant edge with a savoury paprika-like flavour. That conflict changes the SHU field, but the line is otherwise consistently presented as a mild annuum hybrid from Indonesia with purple unripe fruit and red mature fruit.
