About this pepper

Blue Ghost Peach V2 is a modern Capsicum chinense hybrid selection circulating through the specialist hobby pepper trade as a distinct second phenotype of Blue Ghost Peach. The underlying Blue Ghost line was created by Enrico Lai from a cross between Yaki Blue Fawn and Peach Ghost Jami, and the peach-fruited branch of that line later emerged as a recognised variant. Blue Ghost Peach V2 is the shorter, darker-mottled phenotype that Texas Hot Peppers separated from another Blue Ghost Peach pheno, while Matt’s Peppers describes it as having glowing anthocyanin blushing on a light-coloured pod with typical ghost flavour and heat.

The fruit is elongated, ribbed, thin-walled, and distinctly ghost-like, usually around 7.5 to 12.5 cm long. Its ripening pattern is one of its main defining features. Pods begin light green, develop strong purple colouring, and mature to peach while often retaining dark purple mottling or blush. In the V2 selection that dark mottling is especially pronounced, and current seller descriptions specifically distinguish it from the first Blue Ghost Peach pheno by its shorter shape and stronger dark colouring.

The plant is associated with dark green foliage, dark purple stems, vigorous growth, and heavy production. Grower and seller descriptions of the Blue Ghost Peach line present it as a tall, productive plant that may need support, with the contrast between dark vegetative growth and pale, purple-blushed ripe pods being a central part of its visual identity. Its flavour is described as fruity with a typical ghost profile, and the line is commonly treated as a serious high-heat pepper suited to sauces and other processed uses where both flavour and colour matter.

A major heat conflict exists in current descriptions of this line. Some references place Blue Ghost Peach material at full ghost-level superhot intensity around 1000000 SHU, while at least one commercial description presents the broader Blue Ghost Peach line as notably milder. Its core identity across sources remains consistent as a dark-stemmed, peach-ripening, purple-blushed ghost-type hybrid descended from Enrico Lai’s Blue Ghost work.
