About this pepper

BTR Scorpion, also referred to as Butch T Reaper Scorpion, is a super-hot hybrid created by American grower Butch Taylor. It is described as a cross between the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T line and the Carolina Reaper. The goal of the cross was to combine two extremely high heat parent cultivars into a single line.

Pods are typically red at maturity, ripening from green to bright red. Fruit usually show a heavily wrinkled and bumpy surface with a tapered body and a pointed tail resembling a scorpion stinger. Pod shape can vary between plants, with some fruit appearing more elongated and others more rounded.

Heat is widely reported as exceeding 1000000 SHU. Many seed sellers and grower sources cite figures around 1300000 SHU as a mid range working estimate. There are no widely published independent laboratory test results specific to BTR Scorpion, and reported heat levels rely largely on community and vendor claims.

Grower descriptions mention a fruity or floral flavour before the heat becomes dominant. These flavour notes are anecdotal and not based on formal sensory analysis.

There is no publicly available scientific breeding documentation detailing generation stability or selection history. As a result, plant structure, pod size, and heat level may vary depending on seed source. The variety is primarily circulated within super-hot chilli grower communities rather than formal agricultural breeding programmes.
