C3PO

C3PO is a superhot Capsicum chinense hybrid with a long selection trail tied to the Jigsaw line created in Finland. It was first circulated as Vader Jigsaw, with Moruga Scorpion-derived variation appearing from that line, and later a chocolate phase was worked further before Illinois grower Mike Hess selected a caramel form and named it C3PO after the Star Wars droid.

The plant is listed at about 90 to 120 cm tall, with pods around 5.0 cm long. Fruit is described as heavily wrinkled, scrunched, and similar in look to a 7 Pot or 7 Pot Primo type. Vendor descriptions consistently describe the pod as having very strong heat with a slight fruity sweetness.

A major part of this pepper’s story is the colour and identity conflict around the name. In grower discussion linked to the original hybridiser, the original C3P0 is described as mustard, while red forms are described as Darth Maul and green forms as Yoda. At the same time, commercial listings have widely sold a caramel-red pod under the name C3PO. That mismatch between the original naming and later vendor use is one of the most notable things attached to this pepper.

C3PO is also consistently described as a young and unstable hybrid. Vendor listings note that it will not grow fully uniform and can throw multiple variations, which fits the wider grower discussion around renamed or drifting phenotypes within the same Star Wars-themed Jigsaw branch.
