Cabai Kara

Cabai Kara, sold as KARA F1, is an Indonesian hybrid rawit pepper released under Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture approval number 109/Kpts/SR.120/D.2.7/9/2015 and distributed by Benih Citra Asia under the Bintang Asia brand. It is described as an annuum bird pepper type bred for high production and strong pungency, and it has remained in active commercial circulation in Indonesia through seed distributors, farmer reviews, and government seed distribution programs.

The plant is described as early and productive, with harvest starting at about 62 days after sowing and yield potential around 14 tonnes per hectare. It is primarily recommended for lowland production, and official descriptions emphasise dense upright fruit set, heavy cropping, and a strong commercial rawit character.

Its fruit is slender and upright, about 6 cm long and 8 mm wide in the official description, with immature pods described as yellowish green and ripe pods turning red. In commercial circulation it is also sold as a white-rawit type, reflecting the pale immature stage that gives the variety a light-coloured look before full maturity.

Cabai Kara is positioned as a farmer-facing high-yield rawit rather than an ornamental line. Public grower and distributor references repeatedly present it as a dependable, heavily fruiting chilli suited to Indonesian cultivation and market demand, especially where early harvest, upright fruiting, and strong heat are valued.
