About this pepper

Cabai Keriting, meaning “curly chilli” in Indonesian, is a traditional Capsicum annuum type originating from Bukittinggi in West Sumatra, Indonesia. It is a widely used chilli in Indonesian cuisine and is valued for both its heat and flavour.

The pods are slender and elongated, often displaying a distinctive curled or twisted form. They typically measure between 10 and 15 centimetres in length and mature from dark green to bright red. The walls are thin, giving the pods a crisp texture. The flavour is sweet with lightly floral notes, paired with a high heat level.

Plants are robust and can exceed one metre in height. They are known for strong productivity. Due to the thin-walled pods, Cabai Keriting is particularly well suited for drying and grinding into chilli powder or flakes, as well as for use fresh in cooking.
