About this pepper

The Carolina Reaper White is a sweet, pale variant of the original Carolina Reaper, bred by Ed Currie in South Carolina and recognised as the world's hottest pepper by Guinness in 2013. Unlike the traditional red Carolina Reaper, the White variant has a distinctly milder sweetness and a unique creamy white colour.

This pepper grows on typical C. chinense plants, requiring a long growing season of about 90-120 days. The fruit itself is small (roughly 2 inches long), heavily wrinkled, and features a pointed tail, similar to the original Reaper. The peppers ripen from light green to bright yellow, eventually turning creamy white. The plants are known for their extreme pungency, with a strong fruity aroma and a sweet, fruity flavour before the intense heat sets in.

White Carolina Reaper is a superhot variety with heat ranging from 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 SHU. It was first discussed publicly by 2015, with seed listings appearing by November 2016 for the 2017 growing season.

Some accessions of White Carolina Reaper have been observed to exhibit parthenocarpy, which is the ability to produce seedless fruit without fertilisation. This trait has been noted in F4 and F5 generation plants.

This pepper is popular for its aesthetic appeal, sweet fruity flavour, and extreme heat, making it ideal for superhot pepper collectors. It’s commonly used in sauces, powders, and marinades.
