About this pepper

CGN 21500 x Carolina Reaper White is a named Capsicum chinense hobby hybrid that appears in the contemporary specialty seed trade through Matt’s Peppers. Its identity is built directly around the pairing in its name, combining the Brazilian CGN 21500 line with Carolina Reaper White, and it is presented as a flavourful, very hot cross rather than as a pure extreme-heat novelty.

The pods are described and shown as small, walnut-sized, peach-coloured fruits with a squat, rounded, heavily lobed chinense form. In appearance they sit much closer to the compact, chubby CGN 21500 side than to the more elongated, tail-heavy shapes often associated with Carolina Reaper types, giving the pepper a dense, ornamental, almost miniature-pumpkin look when ripe.

Its flavour profile is described as floral with a little sweetness, and the burn is said to be very hot, roughly around red habanero level, building more gradually with noticeable reaper character in the heat profile. That combination gives it a specific identity within modern grower circles: a peach-coloured chinense cross valued for both looks and taste, with enough heat to be serious without presenting itself as a full white-reaper-level superhot.
