About this pepper

The Champion pepper is a mild Capsicum baccatum variety cultivated in Finland since the early 2000s. Plants are known for vigorous growth, ease of cultivation, and high productivity.

Pods are best harvested as they begin turning yellow to orange, when they display a distinctly fruity and sweet flavour. When allowed to fully ripen to red, the flavour shifts toward a more typical mild, sweet pepper profile. Fruits share a superficial resemblance to Bishop's Hat-type peppers but are distinguished by a stronger fruity aroma.

Champion is primarily grown for fresh use and home cultivation rather than commercial production, valued for its low heat, flavour, and reliable yields.
