Information

Cheiro Roxa is a rare Capsicum chinense variety originating from Brazil. The name translates from Portuguese as “purple aroma”, referencing both its distinctive coloration and aromatic qualities. Plants commonly grow over 90 centimetres tall and produce small, squat pods measuring around 2.5 centimetres in length. Fruits develop from a deep purple colour and mature to a creamy pinkish-purple tone at full ripeness, giving the plant ornamental appeal in addition to culinary use. The pods have a fruity, citrus-forward flavour with noticeable sweetness. Heat levels are moderate for Capsicum chinense, generally milder than habanero-type peppers, while still providing a clear pungency. Cheiro Roxa is grown primarily for fresh use and preservation of regional genetic diversity.
