Creamo
Creamo is a modern superhot Capsicum chinense hybrid circulated as a named cream-coloured selection from a Bhut Orange Copenhagen x 7 Pot Primo line. In current circulation the named selection is tied to Bryan Townshend in Florida, where the cream form was found and advanced through later generations, and by 2023 the selection was being sold under the Creamo name. Its history also carries a major origin split that affects how the pepper is described: the original hand pollination that produced the wider BOC x Primo line was made by Paul Willet in the United Kingdom in 2015, while the cream variant now recognised as Creamo was discovered and developed later in the United States.
The plant is described as highly productive, hardy, and vigorous, usually around 1.0 to 1.5 m tall, with green foliage and white flowers. The pods are superhot chinense fruit with a rugged, wrinkled surface, broad shoulders, and frequent stingers or Moruga-like tips. Seller descriptions place the pods around 2.5 to 6.5 cm long, with many plants producing especially gnarly fruit when selected in that direction. Immature pods are light green and ripen into a creamy yellow to pale cream finish, with some descriptions also noting a light peach-white tone at full maturity.
Flavour is one of the traits that made Creamo spread quickly among growers. It is repeatedly described as fruity, citrus-led, bright, and notably tasty for a superhot, with a cleaner profile than many harsher floral superhots. The heat is firmly in the extreme range and is matched by a pod shape that gives the plant strong collector appeal, combining pale ripe colour with the aggressive stingered look usually associated with darker or red superhots.
Creamo is used mainly where both flavour and heat matter, especially in hot sauces and other very hot preparations where the fruity citrus profile can carry through. In pepper-growing culture it belongs squarely to the modern breeder and collector scene, where colour variants selected out of unstable early generations can become recognised named lines in their own right. That is the role Creamo now fills: a pale cream superhot with strong productivity, gnarly tailed pods, a bright citrus-fruity flavour profile, and a selection history that links a United Kingdom-created BOC x Primo cross to a United States-developed named cream form.
