About this pepper

Cumari Amarillo is a rare Capsicum praetermissum pepper native to Brazil. It is considered semi-wild and semi-domesticated, commonly found growing spontaneously in the cerrado region in lightly sheltered environments.

Plants are compact and bushy and produce small, oval-shaped pods measuring approximately 1.25 centimetres in length. Fruits mature from light green to a yellow-orange colour. The plant is also noted for its distinctive flowers, which have reflexed corollas that bend backwards when exposed to strong sunlight.

The flavour is sweet and fruity, paired with a sharp, intense heat that can reach around 40,000 Scoville Heat Units. Cumari Amarillo is valued for both its flavour and ornamental traits and is primarily maintained by collectors and enthusiasts rather than commercial cultivation.
