Fidalgo Roxa
Fidalgo Roxa is a rare Capsicum chinense variety originating from Brazil. Plants are bushy and typically reach 80 to 100 centimetres in height, with dark-coloured stems and large green leaves that may show purple tinges. Flowers are white with purple colouring.
Pods are small and blunt with a lantern-like shape, measuring approximately 2 to 3 centimetres long and around 2 centimetres wide. Fruits undergo a notable colour change, beginning deep purple and maturing to peach or salmon tones at full ripeness.
The variety is highly productive and produces a rich, fruity flavour with light citrus notes. Heat levels are moderate, averaging around 30,000 Scoville Heat Units. The name translates to “noble purple” in Portuguese and reflects its distinctive appearance and valued status in regional cooking.
