Firecracker
Firecracker is an edible ornamental chilli grown mainly for dense clusters of upright, tapered pods that show multiple colours on the plant at once. Several seed listings describe the “roman candle” look, with lots of small fruit held up and out from the foliage.
Pod size is consistently described as small. One listing gives about 19 mm long and about 6 mm wide, while others simplify it as “about 1 inch” (about 25 mm) pods. Plant size is commonly listed around 61 cm tall, while an Australian seed listing gives 30 to 50 cm, which likely reflects growing conditions and container size rather than a different pepper.
Heat is usually placed in the 30,000 to 45,000 SHU band by multiple sellers, so 37,500 SHU is used here as a midpoint single-number estimate. Flavour notes that appear alongside the ornamental description include fruity tones with a sharp, punchy heat. It is often recommended for fresh use, drying, and colourful garnishes.
There are also a couple of inconsistencies online. Some listings describe it as originating in the United States, while at least one Australian seller claims an Indian origin. The name “Firecracker” is also reused for other peppers (for example Firecracker Piquin or Indian Firecracker), so not every listing using the name necessarily refers to the same plant.
