Ganzo Strawberry

Ganzo Strawberry is a rare red phenotype within the Ganzo Peach line, a Capsicum chinense cross created by Giancarlo Fadda of Faddas Peppers from Chupetinho White x Reaper Pink. In current circulation it is treated as a named Ganzo variant rather than an older standalone heirloom, and Matt’s Peppers lists it specifically as a variant of the famous Ganzo pepper. Publicly visible references place the Ganzo Strawberry name in circulation by 2025, when it was already being described as a rare red phenotype from a highly productive plant, and by 2026 it was appearing in specialist seed catalogues under the Ganzo Strawberry name.

As a Ganzo Peach-type phenotype, it carries the same broad plant character associated with that line: vigorous, productive plants commonly reported at about 80.0 to 120.0 cm tall, with dark purple foliage and strongly ornamental colouring. Grower and seller descriptions of Ganzo Peach repeatedly describe a tall, vigorous plant with heavy production throughout the season, and hobby growers regularly single out the line for its purple leaves and striking pod presentation.

The fruit type is built around the Ganzo Peach form, which is described as wrinkled, chinense-like, and influenced by both parents, with a Chupetinho-like body and a pronounced tail reminiscent of Reaper Pink. In the strawberry form, the ripe colour shifts away from the usual peach finish into a red finish, while keeping the earlier purple stage that defines the line’s visual identity. The result is a dark, high-contrast pepper with purple immature pods and red mature pods, giving the variant its strawberry name and making it especially noticeable among Faddas-derived selections.

Flavour descriptions tied to the Ganzo line and to the red phenotype centre on fruity sweetness, slight tang, and a strong but smoother building heat. Public descriptions of Ganzo Peach describe it as fruity and sweet with very high heat, while the Ganzo Strawberry phenotype has been described as berry-sweet with a smooth rising burn. In use it fits the same kinds of preparations that made the Ganzo line popular among hobby growers, especially sauces, salsas, marinades, pickling, and dried products such as flakes.
