Haskorea

Haskorea is a rare heirloom Capsicum annuum pepper originating from Aleppo, Syria. Seeds were collected in 1999 at the Bab al-Faraj seed market by a United States Department of Agriculture scientist in collaboration with a Syrian Atomic Energy Commission official.

Plants typically reach 45 to 50 centimetres in height and show strong tolerance to heat and drought. Pods are slender and semi-lobed, measuring approximately 7.5 centimetres long and tapering to a blunt point. Fruits mature to a deep red colour.

The flavour is rich and spicy, with heat levels significantly higher than traditional Aleppo peppers, commonly reaching around 80,000 Scoville Heat Units. Haskorea is valued for its intensity, adaptability, and role in preserving regional chilli genetics.
