About this pepper

Hurt Berry is a superhot Capsicum chinense pepper developed in the United Kingdom by grower Graham Lee Warburton. It originated from an initial cross between Carolina Reaper and Jigsaw, which was later crossed with Moruga Scorpion UV to produce the current line.

Plants typically reach around 90 centimetres in height and are noted for producing pods more rapidly than many other superhot varieties. Pods are small, approximately 2.5 centimetres in diameter, with a bumpy, spiked, mushroom-like shape. Fruits mature from green to dark red.

Heat levels are extreme and estimated to exceed 1,600,000 Scoville Heat Units, though no definitive laboratory average has been published. Despite the intensity, the pods retain fruity flavour notes. Hurt Berry is still considered genetically unstable, and plant traits may vary between generations.
