Lemon Puma BBG
Lemon Puma BBG is a modern European Capsicum chinense hybrid from the Bubblegum breeding scene, with early selections traced to breeders in Germany and the United Kingdom. It was selected from bleeding-calyx material tied to the 7 Pot Bubblegum line, and the name reflects both its lemon-yellow mature colour and its placement within the BBG group. By March 2020 it was already being grown and discussed online, and it later became established in specialist seed catalogues and collector circles. Within chilli enthusiast culture it is valued as a showpiece plant, especially for the way the ripe pod colour can spread into the calyx and even up the stem, making it one of those varieties grown as much for visual impact as for heat.
The plant is generally described as bushy and upright, usually reaching about 80.0 to 100.0 cm tall and 60.0 to 80.0 cm wide. The foliage is dark green with occasional purple veining, and the flowers are white with purple accents. Grower-facing descriptions present it as a productive plant, with listings ranging from prolific and very heavy producing to moderate yields of about 60 to 100 pods per plant under strong conditions.
The pods are small and lemon-like, usually rounded to slightly pointed or teardrop-shaped, about 4.0 to 5.0 cm long and 20 mm in diameter. They begin green and ripen to bright yellow, with blistered to wrinkled skin, medium wall thickness, and the oversized Bubblegum-style calyx that can bleed yellow when the fruit is left on the plant after ripening. Seed sellers and growers consistently describe it as a hot to superhot type suited to powders, ferments, sauces, and spice use. Published heat figures vary sharply, with some listings placing it at 100000 to 350000 SHU and others placing it around 700000 to 1000000 SHU, but it is consistently marketed within the superhot BBG category.
