About this pepper

Liberty Belle is a modern patio sweet pepper hybrid bred for compact growing and full-sized culinary fruit on a naturally dwarf plant. In current Syngenta Vegetalis material it is described as a sweet bell pepper with a naturally dwarf habit, many well-shaped fruits, strong performance in intense heat, and suitability for windowsills, patios, and container gardening. It is positioned as a kitchen pepper for stuffing, sautéing, roasting, or eating fresh rather than as a pungent chilli.

The plant is compact and upright, usually about 51.0 cm tall and 51.0 cm wide. The fruit is described as elongated bell shaped and large for a patio type, usually about 10.5 to 14.0 cm long and 9.0 to 10.5 cm wide. Current catalogue and culture-guide material describe the fruit as very sweet, with a 7% Brix rating, and maturing in about 73 to 78 days from transplant, or about 98 to 108 days from sowing in container production schedules.

Its public history places it in the recent small-space vegetable market rather than among older heirloom or landrace peppers. Trade coverage from spring trials in 2018 was already presenting Liberty Belle as a compact bell pepper with conventional fruit numbers on a very small, sturdy plant, and later catalogues continued to market it as a patio bell selected for high production, heat tolerance, and container performance.

Culturally and commercially, Liberty Belle belongs to the modern garden-to-table patio vegetable category. Its identity is tied to growers and home gardeners wanting sweet bell peppers from small plants that can handle containers, balconies, and hot summer conditions without losing fruit quality. Current disease-resistance listings also place Liberty Belle among yellow sweet peppers with Tobacco Mosaic Virus resistance, reinforcing its role as a modern hybrid selected for dependable garden performance as well as fruit quality.
