Naglah Beast Choc
Naglah Beast Choc, also known as Chocolate Naglah Beast, is the chocolate-coloured selection of the Naglah Beast line. The Naglah/Naglah Beast lineage traces back to a Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper) × 7 Pot Douglah cross that is widely credited to the Chile Pepper Institute.
The “Beast” name refers to an unusual squat, mushroom-like pod shape that appeared during grow-outs of the Naglah material and began circulating among growers as a distinctive variant. Reports place the first widely discussed appearances of the Beast-type pods around a 2015 grow-out, after which selections including chocolate-coloured forms began to circulate in seed trade and hobby grower communities.
Pod size descriptions vary slightly depending on the source. One listing describes the pods as approximately 2.5 cm long and about 2.5 cm wide, emphasising the miniature mushroom-like form. Another seller instead compares the fruit size to small habaneros while still noting the characteristic squat, wrinkled mushroom shape typical of the Beast phenotype.
Flavour descriptions are unusually consistent across grower reviews. The pepper is described as having earthy and grassy tones with light floral notes and mild fruitiness before the heat arrives. The burn is described as immediate and intense, with a sharp stinging heat that grips the tongue and roof of the mouth before moving down the throat.
Heat reporting varies depending on the seller. Some seed listings simply state “1,000,000+ SHU”, while others describe the heat as untested but comparable to Ghost or Scorpion peppers. Because a single numeric value is required, 1,000,000 SHU is used as a central estimate consistent with those repeated listings.
