About this pepper

Orange Drop is a Capsicum baccatum variety that originated in the United States as a spontaneous mutation within Aji Strawberry Drop plants grown by Sherwood's Seeds. It was identified and selected due to its distinct pod size and flavour profile.

The pods resemble those of Aji Mango but are typically around one third larger. Flavour is citrus-forward and closer to Aji Strawberry Drop, with bright, fruity notes. Heat levels are moderate for the species, averaging around 30,000 Scoville Heat Units.

As of 2019, Orange Drop had not yet fully stabilised, with some plants reverting to Aji Strawberry Drop characteristics. It remains of interest to growers and breeders due to its flavour and mutation-derived origin.
