About this pepper

Orange Sun is a sweet bell pepper grown for large, blocky fruit that ripen from green to orange.

Pods are commonly listed at about 9–12.5 cm long, usually with 3–4 lobes and thick, crisp walls. Many catalogue descriptions match a size range of roughly 9–11.5 cm long and 7.5–10 cm wide.

Plants are often described as sturdy and around 61 cm tall, with some listings giving a range of 45.5–61 cm. It is regularly suggested as suitable for container growing due to its plant structure and upright habit.

Maturity timing is inconsistent between sellers. Some list 60–70 days after transplanting and describe it as early, while others list 75–80 days. The difference likely reflects climate variation or sellers measuring to different harvest stages.

It is sometimes sold under the alternate name “Orange Bell”.

Origin listings are inconsistent. Some sources list it as United States origin, while at least one seed-history style listing claims introduction in the early 1980s in the Netherlands. Many retail sellers do not state an origin. The Netherlands origin is reported but not widely supported by primary breeder documentation.
