About this pepper

OZ Brain Killer is an Australian super-hot chilli associated with The Chilli Factory in New South Wales. In Australian trade it appears both as the unnumbered OZ Brain Killer and as the numbered OZ Brain Killer 1 and OZ Brain Killer 2 lines sold by The Chilli Factory, with the unnumbered descriptions most commonly matching the 750,000 SHU type.

The plant is a productive Capsicum chinense that can grow to about 90 cm to 120 cm high and is noted for carrying plenty of fruit through the season. The pods ripen from green to red and are described as longer than Trinidad Scorpion-type pods, with very wrinkled flesh and an oily interior. Descriptions of the fruit consistently emphasise immediate, aggressive heat, and the chilli is typically used sparingly in sauces and cooked dishes where only a small amount is needed.

Australian growers and forum references show the name in circulation by 2017, with later grower discussions continuing to describe it as an extremely hot Australian chinense with elongated, heavily textured fruit. Some growers also report an orange transitional stage before full red maturity, but the standard trade description remains green to red.
