Information

Peter Pepper is an heirloom Capsicum annuum pepper best known for its distinctive phallic-shaped pods, which have led to common nicknames such as Chilli Willy and Penis Pepper. This unusual fruit shape has made it a long-standing novelty variety among growers. Pods typically measure between 7.5 and 15 centimetres in length and mature from green to red or yellow, depending on the plant. The plants are productive and well adapted to warm growing regions. Heat levels are moderate, averaging around 10,000 Scoville Heat Units, similar to serrano peppers. The flavour is comparable to a jalapeño with a slightly sweet undertone. While its exact origin is unclear, the variety has been traditionally grown in East Texas, Louisiana, and parts of Mexico and remains valued for both culinary use and historical interest.
