PJ UFO

PJ UFO, also listed as Pimenta Jolokia UFO, is a Capsicum chinense pepper released through the Pimenta Jolokia line. It is described by Towns-End Chili & Spice as a T-E release connected to Pimenta Jolokia Molten Ice, while several later listings describe it as an off-phenotype or variant from PJ Ice. Its identity centres on its unusual UFO-like pod shape, with fruit forming a flattened flying-saucer body and a distinct pointed stinger rather than the longer pod form associated with PJ Ice.

The plant is a green-leaved chinense type with a reported growth period of around 100+ days to harvest. Rebec Valley Farm lists plant height at over 4 ft, about 122 cm or taller, with hot fruit in the 150,000 to 300,000 SHU range. The pods are small, squat, pendant, glossy, and strongly ornamental, with rounded lobes around the shoulder and a sharp downward point.

The fruit colour is one of the main features of the variety. Listings describe pods moving through deep purple and pink tones before reaching a vibrant orange ripe stage, and Trade Winds Fruit describes the fruit as producing flying-saucer-shaped pods with a purple and orange colour expression. Product imagery shows both dark purple-black immature pods and orange ripe pods in the same harvested group.

PJ UFO is valued mostly for its shape, colour, and hot fruity flavour.
