About this pepper
Pusa Sadabahar is a Capsicum annuum cultivar developed in India from a cross between Pusa Jwala and IC-31339. It is notable for its perennial growth habit, capable of producing fruit for two to three years, with yields gradually declining over time.
Plants are mostly non-branching and produce upright clusters of five to eight slender, tapered pods. Fruits typically measure 5 to 6 centimetres in length and about 0.8 centimetres in diameter and mature from green to red.
The variety is suited to both rainy and summer growing seasons. First harvest usually occurs 40 to 50 days after sowing. Heat levels are moderate, averaging around 22,500 Scoville Heat Units. Pusa Sadabahar is grown widely for fresh use and drying.
