About this pepper

Rocoto Canario is a Capsicum pubescens cultivar native to Peru. It is distinguished by its bright yellow, apple-shaped pods and the defining pubescens traits of purple flowers and black seeds.

Plants are robust and suited to cooler growing conditions compared to other Capsicum species. Pods typically measure around 4 centimetres in length and 3.5 centimetres in width and have very thick, juicy walls.

The flavour is fruity and full-bodied, paired with a moderate to high heat level averaging around 35,000 Scoville Heat Units. Rocoto Canario is commonly used fresh or cooked in traditional Peruvian dishes and is valued for its texture, colour, and distinctive flavour.
