Sweet Apple Kambe
Sweet Apple Kambe, also known simply as Sweet Apple, is a non-pungent Capsicum annuum variety believed to have originated in Hungary. It is closely related in form to Alma-type peppers but lacks heat entirely.
Plants typically grow just over 60 centimetres tall and are highly productive. Fruits are large and heart-shaped, often exceeding 12.7 centimetres in diameter and nearly 7.6 centimetres thick, comparable in size to an heirloom tomato. Pods mature from creamy white to a light orange blush and can turn orange-red if left on the plant.
The flesh is exceptionally thick, crisp, and very sweet with a fruity flavour. Sweet Apple Kambe belongs to the traditional group of mild “cheese peppers,” historically used in Europe for stuffing, fresh eating, and culinary applications where sweetness and texture are preferred over heat.
