T-Rex Mustard
T-Rex Mustard is a modern United States superhot developed within the T-Rex line and widely attributed to Tom Kleinfelter. Sources consistently place it in Capsicum chinense and link it to Trinidad Douglah and Bhutlah ancestry. It is generally treated as a mustard phenotype within the T-Rex line, with the main history split being whether it is described as a mustard variant of T-Rex Red or as an off-colour phenotype selected from T-Rex Yellow.
The plant is described as vigorous, highly productive, and capable of heavy harvests, with sellers commonly listing mature plants at about 91.5 to 122 cm tall. The pods are the defining feature: heavily wrinkled, twisted, and contorted, often with sharp stingers and a rough surface that gives the line its dinosaur-inspired name. Ripening is typically from green to a rich mustard or mustard-gold tone, and the overall pod shape is usually gnarly and irregular rather than smooth or uniform.
In flavour descriptions, T-Rex Mustard is repeatedly described as earthy, slightly sweet, and intensely hot, with a long-lasting burn. It is grown both for its extreme pungency and for its dramatic pod appearance, and it is regularly presented as a pepper suited to sauces, powders, and collectors who want visually aggressive superhot phenotypes. Across seed listings and grower descriptions, its core identity is stable: a rare mustard-coloured T-Rex type with Douglah x Bhutlah background, violent heat, vigorous plants, and contorted stingered pods.
