Tezpur Long
Tezpur Long (sometimes sold as Tezpur Long Skinny Chilli) is presented in seed listings as a long, slender Capsicum annuum chilli associated with Tezpur in Assam, India. The pepper is described as producing very thin, elongated pods and heavy yields suitable for stir-fries, soups, and stews.
Pods are described as ripening from dark green to red and growing in a long, narrow “skinny chilli” form typical of many Asian cooking peppers. Plants are reported to reach about 70 cm tall and to perform well in containers and patio growing situations while producing fruit continuously during warm months.
One seller listing describes the pepper as extremely hot and claims heat levels up to around 170000 SHU. That figure is unusually high for long annuum chillies and appears to come from a single commercial description rather than independent testing.
There is a notable inconsistency around the Tezpur name online. Several established chilli references use Tezpur in connection with Indian PC-1 or Tezpur PC-1 peppers, which are described as cayenne-type Capsicum annuum varieties with much lower heat levels typically around 5000–15000 SHU. That difference is large enough that either Tezpur Long represents a separate chilli associated with the Tezpur region, or the listing text may be conflating characteristics of other Indian long hot peppers (such as Teja-style chillies) with the Tezpur name.
Because available documentation largely comes from a small number of commercial listings rather than academic horticultural sources, the exact lineage and heat level of Tezpur Long should be considered uncertain.
