Thai Volcano

Thai Volcano is a compact, very hot Thai-type chilli grown for dense clusters of small, upright, pointed red pods.

Fruit are typically 2.5–5 cm long and about 1 cm wide. Pods are usually upright and ripen from green to bright red. Plants are compact, commonly around 30.5–45.5 cm tall, though some listings report up to about 60 cm under strong growing conditions.

Heat level is commonly reported between 50,000 and 100,000 SHU depending on source and growing conditions. A working figure of 75,000 SHU represents a balanced mid-range estimate.

It is often sold as both a culinary and ornamental chilli due to its dense clusters of upright fruit. In cooking, it is used similarly to Thai bird-type chillies, mainly fresh or dried.

Formal breeder documentation is limited. The name appears mainly in modern seed catalogues rather than historical agricultural records. While it is often grouped with Thai bird’s eye types, it is sold under its own distinct name. A confirmed first breeder release document is not clearly documented in public sources.
