Tiburón Hybrid
Tiburón Hybrid is an F1 hybrid Capsicum annuum poblano and ancho type pepper sold through the United States commercial seed trade, including listings from Sakata Seed America. It is bred for large fruit size, consistent performance and suitability for stuffing and processing.
Plants are commonly listed around 60–76 centimetres tall. Pods are pendant and typically measure about 12.7–17.8 centimetres long and 6.4–8.9 centimetres wide, maturing from dark green to red. The walls are medium thick, and harvest is usually described as midseason, around 70–80 days after transplanting.
Tiburón is marketed as a slightly hotter poblano-type hybrid, suitable for roasting, peeling and stuffing, as well as for drying, grinding into powder and sauce production. Heat descriptions vary across sources, but it is generally placed in the mild to low-medium range.
Multiple sources list disease resistance traits for Tiburón, including resistance to bacterial leaf spot and tobacco mosaic virus. As a hybrid, seed saved from this cultivar will not reliably breed true, and fresh hybrid seed is typically purchased each season.
