Transylvanian Slim Jim

Transylvanian Slim Jim is a modern United States hybrid created by Matthew Ohlendorf of Matt's Peppers from Count Dracula x Thunder Mountain Longhorn. It was already in circulation by 2023, when Matt's Peppers showed it among its newer crosses, and live seller listings consistently present it as one of Matt's own named creations rather than as an older regional pepper.

The plant is grown for its striking ornamental look as much as for the fruit itself. Live grower and seller references describe dark foliage, purple flowers, and long narrow pods that begin deep purple and ripen red. The overall look combines the darker Dracula-style pigmentation with the elongated longhorn fruit form, giving it a very distinct thin, gothic appearance.

Its pods are described as long and thin across sources, with later reseller descriptions placing them at about 20.5 cm or more in length. This makes the fruit much more stretched and narrow than typical annuum ornamentals, and that long pendant shape is one of the main defining features of the line.

A major factual conflict exists around the heat field. One live reseller claims the line can reach 50000 SHU, Texas Hot Peppers describes it only as medium heat, and Mack's Peppers places it in a mild pepper group covering 0 to 10000 SHU. Across those differences, the core identity remains the same: a Matt's Peppers annuum hybrid with dark foliage, purple-to-red fruit, and a long slim pod shape.
