Tusk Buster Bumpy

Tusk Buster Bumpy is a modern Capsicum chinense hybrid bred by Matt’s Peppers from Fadda’s Boar’s Claw crossed with Khang Starr Lemon Starrburst. It is circulated as the bumpy phenotype within the Tusk Buster line. A second public selection, Tusk Buster Blush, is sold alongside it, showing that the cross is already being worked as multiple named phenotypes rather than as a single undifferentiated seed line.

The bumpy selection is defined by compact, heavily textured chinense pods with a squat, bonnet-like to slightly lantern-like body and a short pointed tip. The public product image shows ripe fruit in pale cream through soft peach-orange shades, with some pods appearing lighter and others deeper peach on the same harvest display. That visual finish, together with the dense surface texture, is the main identifying feature of this particular selection.

Its background combines two already distinctive modern peppers. Boar’s Claw is a Faddas-bred Capsicum chinense line known for its claw-like form, purple-cream colouring, and strong heat, while KS Lemon Starrburst is Khang Starr’s fruity yellow chinense hybrid. In Tusk Buster Bumpy, the publicly visible result is a pale, bumpy, modern hobby-bred chinense line being advanced in the United States breeding scene through Matt’s Peppers.
