About this pepper

Weapon X is a modern Australian chilli hybrid associated with Western Australian grower Graeme Chaplin, also known as Chappy. Live sources describe it as a natural cross with Scotch Bonnet and Moruga background, placing it within the modern super-hot chinense breeding stream rather than as an older regional landrace or heirloom line.

The pepper is described as big, gnarly, and mega hot, and currently circulated fruit images show a heavily wrinkled, lobed pod with a broad, blocky body and a raised pointed top. Mature fruit in the strongest live image source is bright red, and the plant foliage visible behind the fruit is green.

Its flavour is one of the main reasons it continues to circulate. Current seller descriptions call it fruity, floral, and sweet, and specifically recommend it for powders and sauces rather than for sheer novelty value alone. The same source also notes that it is not the most productive plant, but that the flavour makes up for that.

A major factual conflict exists around heat. One live source places Weapon X at about 300000 to 500000 SHU, while a current seller listing places it around 500000 SHU. Both sources agree that it is a very hot chinense-type hybrid from Graeme Chaplin and not a mild or medium chilli.
