Why Not is a Capsicum chinense hybrid developed in Italy by breeder Danilo Marini of Space Chili Peppers. It is a cross between Jay's Peach Ghost Scorpion and 7 Pot White. Pods mature to a light peach colour and are typically somewhat flattened, often featuring a small pointed stinger. Fruit shape and size can vary due to the line being in the F3 generation. Heat levels are extreme and commonly estimated around 1,000,000 Scoville Heat Units, though variation can occur between plants. Why Not is considered unstable, with ongoing selection required to fix traits such as pod form, colour, and heat consistency.
