Yoda is a named hobby-bred superhot Capsicum chinense circulating in the modern pepper scene by 31 January 2020. Live discussion and quoted seller text tie it to Michael Christensen and describe it as one of the Star Wars-named Jigsaw hybrids, with the Yoda line grown out from different phenos of Gator Jigsaw several years earlier. That places it within the same modern grower-bred stream that also produced related names such as C3PO, Chewy, Vader, and Darth Maul.

In the Gator Jigsaw-derived description, Yoda is presented as a very hot, relatively high-yielding pepper that is a bit smaller than Gator Jigsaw and ripens toward a mustard finish rather than a standard red. A current Matt’s Peppers listing also keeps the species placement within Capsicum chinense and describes Yoda as a large green-ripening chinense that came in through trade, showing that the name is still active in collector seed circulation rather than being an old closed line.

A major factual conflict affects the core identity of this pepper. One live source presents Yoda as a mustard-ripening Gator Jigsaw-derived hybrid, while another current source sells Yoda simply as a large green-ripening chinense of trade origin. That conflict changes the pepper’s core description and suggests that the name Yoda is being used for at least two closely related but not fully standardised chinense lines in circulation.
