About this pepper
Zebrange is a Capsicum baccatum cultivar developed in Belgium by grower Laurent Minet. It was created from a cross between Aji Fantasy and Christmas Bell, also known as Bishop's Crown.
Plants are vigorous and can grow quite large, with some reaching over 1.5 metres depending on conditions. Pods are bell-shaped and often larger than a golf ball. As they mature, fruits turn orange with distinctive red striping, giving a striped appearance similar to Sugar Rush Stripey.
The flavour is sweet and fruity with mild heat, averaging around 5,000 Scoville Heat Units. Heat is mainly concentrated in the placental tissue. Zebrange is grown for both culinary use and its unusual, highly ornamental fruit shape and colouring.
